What is Depression? I’m sure most of us already feel worthless, having difficulties making decisions, helpless, having poor concentration, low self-esteem, hopelessness, and feeling very tired and powerless, which will cause you to lose your interest. You will also not be in the mood to eat, sleep, or do anything you need to do because you can’t concentrate. The person also feels chronically irritable and often explodes in anger and rage. Always be frustrated.
These are just some symptoms of depression. The worst part is most of the people who can’t handle this kind of condition thought of having a suicide which causes death, were in research found out that 20% of U.S. teens suffering from depression are more likely to attempt suicide, and among teens, suicide is the third leading cause of death. It is also in the top 11 causes of death worldwide, which takes 850k lives every year.
Overcoming depression is not hard; with proper treatment, 80% to 90% of depressed people can move out of the depression. The most common treatment is medication.
I suggest if you know someone whose condition is like this, like a friend of yours, you need to show your support and listen and support them, telling them that everything will go to be alright. That is why cultivating friends, developing and maintaining an intimate relationship with other people is one of the best treatments for this condition. Most people would say “I’m really depressed” because they thought it states the feeling of sadness or being down for a short period; there is a vast difference between clinical depression and sadness. A major episode of clinical depression can last up to 2 years. It can also end in a few minutes. On the other hand, sadness is a part of being human, a natural reaction to painful circumstances.
